Facial plastic surgery in Porto and Braga

Facial surgery performed by a surgeon dedicated to the nose and the face, with consultation in Porto or Braga and surgery in hospital, in the Porto area.

Surgical treatments of the face

One face, several treatments

The face is the part of the body that communicates the most. That is why any facial surgery has to respect the proportions of each face and keep each person’s natural expression. At Clínica do Nariz e Face, the plan always starts with a complete facial analysis, assessing what changes and what should stay the same.

The clinic specialises in rhinoplasty, the most frequent surgery, but also treats the eyelids, ears, chin, upper lip, cheeks, forehead and the rejuvenation of the face and neck. Two treatments are often combined in the same surgery, such as rhinoplasty with chin surgery, to balance the profile.

Clínica do Nariz e Face

Why choose Clínica do Nariz e Face

Surgeries are performed by Prof. Dr. Miguel Gonçalves Ferreira, a specialist in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, with a subspecialty in Facial Plastic Surgery, who has been operating since 2001. The consultation includes a Crisalix 3D simulation of the result, and surgeries take place at Hospital da Luz Arrábida, in Vila Nova de Gaia, and at Hospital da Ordem de S. Francisco, in Porto. Rhinoplasty

Aesthetic and functional nose surgery.

Changes the shape of the nose to bring it into harmony with the face and, when needed, improves breathing. It is the most frequently performed surgery at the clinic, including revision rhinoplasties.

Facelift

Rejuvenation of the face and neck.

Repositions the tissues that have descended with age, for a more rested face, without losing the natural expression.

Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery.

Removes excess skin and fat pockets from the upper or lower eyelids, for a more open, less tired look.

Brow Lift

Forehead and eyebrow lift.

Raises drooping eyebrows and softens forehead wrinkles, subtly opening up the eyes.

Otoplasty

Correction of prominent ears.

Brings the ears closer to the head and gives them a more natural shape. It can be performed on adults and children.

Chin Surgery

Mentoplasty.

Increases or reduces the projection of the chin to balance the profile. It is often combined with rhinoplasty.

Lip Lift

Shortening of the upper lip.

Reduces the distance between the nose and the lip and gives the lip more volume and definition, without fillers.

Buccal Fat Removal

Cheek reduction.

Removes the buccal fat pads, from inside the mouth, to slim the face and highlight the cheekbones.

Frequently asked questions

You can have surgery at any time of year. The most important thing is to protect your face from direct sun during the first month, with a hat and sunscreen.
Moderate exercise can be resumed about 2 weeks after surgery. Intense exercise and sources of heat on the face should be avoided during the first month.
The aesthetic part is not covered by insurance, but when there is a functional component, for example a breathing problem in the nose, that part may be covered. Discuss this with the surgeon at the consultation.
It is the assessment in which the surgeon analyses all the relevant features of your face: those that will be corrected and those that, although present, are not part of the planned surgery.
It is a document required by law, which you sign before surgery, confirming that you have been informed of the risks and benefits and that you authorise the surgery.
Anyone living outside Porto, in Portugal or abroad, has an adapted follow-up plan, with video consultation and optional help with travel and accommodation. As a rule, the minimum stay in Portugal is 7 to 10 days. Read more at international patients.
Consultations can be in person or by video. Only two have to be in person: one before surgery and the first one after surgery.
If there is agreement that a revision is needed, you only pay the operating theatre costs. Normally, the surgical team does not charge fees.
The best guarantee is the surgeon’s experience: more than 10,000 facial surgeries, more than 600 lectures at international congresses, publications in scientific journals and a PhD in rhinoplasty from the University of Porto. At the consultation, discuss all your questions and the result you want with him, with the help of the 3D simulation.
