Clínica do Nariz e Face in Porto and Braga

Clínica do Nariz e Face

Opened in 2014, Clínica do Nariz e Face is a clinic specialising in rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery, with practices in Porto and Braga. It is led by Prof. Dr. Miguel Gonçalves Ferreira, a specialist in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, who has been operating since 2001 and has performed more than 9,000 rhinoplasties.

What sets the clinic apart is the way it looks at the nose: not only as an aesthetic matter, but also a functional one. At every consultation, we assess what the patient wants to change in the shape of the nose and examine the breathing, so that the surgery resolves both when needed.

Besides rhinoplasty, the clinic treats other areas of the face: eyelids, ears, chin, upper lip, forehead and eyebrows e facial rejuvenation. Whenever a case calls for it, it works with consultants in Maxillofacial Surgery, Dermatology, Stomatology, Dentistry and Ophthalmology.

Around 40% of the rhinoplasties performed at the clinic are revision rhinoplasties, for patients operated on elsewhere, who come from Porto, Braga, the whole of Portugal and abroad.

How we work

From first contact to recovery

1. Consultation.
The surgeon listens to what you want, examines the nose outside and inside and makes a Crisalix 3D simulation of the result. See what the first consultation is like.

2. Surgical plan.
In primary rhinoplasty, the clinic uses preservation techniques, which keep the natural structure of the nose. In revisions, a structural approach that rebuilds the support.
When the bone needs to be worked, ultrasonic rhinoplastyis used. If breathing also needs correcting, a septorhinoplasty.

3. Surgery.
In hospital, in the Porto area, under general anaesthesia.
The patient breathes through the nose from the end of the surgery, without the traditional packing.

4. Recovery.
Follow-up consultations until the final result, which settles over about a year.
See how long rhinoplasty takes and real results in clinical cases.

Surgeries are performed in hospital, with a dedicated anaesthesia team and, in most cases, discharge on the same day.

Safety and follow-up

All surgeries are performed in a hospital setting, at Hospital da Luz Arrábida, in Vila Nova de Gaia, or at Hospital da Ordem de S. Francisco, in Porto, with a dedicated anaesthesiologist who monitors breathing, heart, blood pressure and level of consciousness throughout the surgery.

Modern anaesthesia is very safe, and the risk of complications is now very low. Even so, before every surgery a pre-operative assessment is carried out to adapt the anaesthesia to each patient.

After surgery, the clinic team follows the patient through every stage of recovery, with follow-up consultations and direct contact for any questions. Read the guide to week-by-week recovery.
